Keeping wilderness WILD

Headquartered in Missoula, Montana, Wilderness Watch is America’s leading organization dedicated to defending the nation’s 112-million-acre National Wilderness Preservation System. They serve an important role in assuring that federal land management agencies abide by the 1964 Wilderness Act and other laws that protect the integrity of our wilderness heritage.

Congress established the National Wilderness Preservation System in 1964 “to assure that an increasing population, accompanied by expanding settlement and growing mechanization, does not occupy and modify all areas within the United States…” Unfortunately, simply designating a Wilderness or Wild and Scenic River does not guarantee its protection. Instead, the long-term preservation of Wilderness depends on the commitment of an informed public to preserve each area’s wilderness character.

As one of our earliest nonprofit partners, The Last Best Store shares Wilderness Watch's vision and is proud to support their increasingly important work through our merchandise-based fundraising program. A portion of all proceeds from this collection will help them to protect America’s finest environmental legacy for present and future generations.

Reduce your carbon footprint with sustainable apparel

Whenever possible, we source our shirts, garments, and other blank products from American companies focused on sustainability. US-based manufacturers like Royal Apparel and econscious actively contribute to a more sustainable and just society, by using organic and recycled materials to produce high quality, environmentally-conscious garments and accessories with a lower carbon footprint than those shipped overseas.
